Abandoned Homeless Cats, Need Your Help
Page 1
New England All Breed Rescue would like to help make a difference for the MANY local abandoned, homeless stray cats or kittens residing on the streets of Worcester. These homeless strays were once owned family members that have become abandoned. We are asking for your help so we can help them!! Without FOSTER HOMES for these abandoned kittens & cats to be temorarily housed in, NEABR will be unable to give them that second chance at a good life because we don't have a physical shelter for them to go to. All homeless cats rescued from the streets of Worcester will be seen by a Vet, given age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, tested for feline leukemia, and altered prior to being adopted. NEABR would like to team up with SPAY WORCESTER a Non Profit TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) Organization. By joining efforts with Spay Worcester, & gaining loving foster homes, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF MANY ABANDONED LITTLE LOVE BUG FELINES =O) The Spay Worcester task force will directly support MAC’s mission of promoting animal welfare by helping an underserved animal population in the city of Worcester. The signature program of MAC, the animal friendly license plate program, demonstrates the importance of spay neuter as a tool to achieve our welfare goals. By reducing the free roaming cat population this program will also benefit the shelters and rescue groups working in Worcester by reducing cat intake. The Spay Worcester coalition has grown from concerned Worcester residents reaching out to animal welfare professionals for support. A dynamic coalition has now formed including many people each bringing unique resources to the table. Additionally, the group intends to work collaboratively with the Worcester animal shelter, Worcester Animal Rescue League, with the city of Worcester and with any interested parties.Their current coalition includes Worcester residents, animal control officers, several animal welfare organizations, Tufts University and TNR volunteers. Spay Worcester plans to leverage all of these connections as they put a comprehensive plan together for the city of Worcester. They will be an inclusive coalition and all volunteers (regardless of their primary affiliation) are welcome. The goal of the Spay Worcester task force is to work to reduce the population of free roaming cats in the city of Worcester through spay neuter and public education. The focus of this task force will be providing basic medical care (spay neuter and rabies vaccinations) for free roaming unowned cats through responsible trap neuter return. However the task force will also seek to increase the resources available for low income spay neuter for pet cats in Worcester by working with other organizations. Spay Worcester believes that all cat populations must be addressed in order to see a decrease in Worcester’s free roaming cat population.

MANY of these cats rescued from the streets had a home at one point in their life. We know this because we get out and talk to the community. Main South area of Worcester, has a high rate of abandoned cats & kittens as well as animal cruelty to these homeless felines. They are friendly, and thrive for human attention.

By fostering a homeless cat, you truly are making a difference for them, and sometimes that means life or death. This little girl was rescued from the streets of Worcester last year at 3-4 wks old. She was emaciated, anemic & had some fur loss due to a bad flea infestation, she was also dehydrated. If I didn't foster her when I did, the vet said she wouldn't have lasted a few more days being in the condition she was found. She is now a very healthy, happy, 1 yr old, indoor only cat who will live a good long life. By fostering an animal it does make a huge difference in their life. It removes them from the danger on the streets, allows them to be feed regularly, and gives them the socialization, love and attention they desperately seek from humans until they are adopted. It is the foster home who sees them go through the transformation of a dirty, skinny, flea ridden, unwanted homeless cat/ kitten, to a clean, healthy, happy, playful family member. Fostering an animal can be hard on ones heart once he/ she is adopted. With tears in your eyes, you'll know this has to be done. Their going to a furever home, where they will be loved, and cared for the rest of their life. You will smile through those tears, as did I, because you'll know in your heart, if not for you, they woulnd't have survived or had a second chance at a good life, which they deserve. Believe when I say, there will always be another stray in need of a loving foster home. One by one, it will make a difference.
